If you want to save money by going green, then the first step is usually switching over to energy-efficient lighting. Your two main options are LED spotlights and CLF (compact florescent lights) bulbs. If your main goal is to save energy, then LED spotlights are usually the much better choice. However, this isn’t always the case. The conditions in which LED spotlights are produced are not always the same as in real life. For example, a lab may say that its LED spotlights produce 64 lumens per watt but you really only get about 50 lumens per watt. CLF lights aren’t as variable as LED spotlights. It is important that you choose a reputable brand name for LED spotlights if you want to truly get what is advertised. Aside from the energy saving factor though, LED spotlights are also better than CLF bulbs because they have a more natural light and last for about 4-10x times longer. LED spotlights can be an expensive investment but it will pay off over time and then actually save you money in reduced electric bills.
